Seattle lost to Chicago on Monday night and has the shortest turnaround it has had since the Thursday game in Denver: Arizona comes to Lumen Field on Sunday, November 8, at 1:25 p.m. Pacific on FOX, six days after the Bears game. The injury reports return to the usual Sunday calendar, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with game statuses on Friday.

Where things stand

Seattle is 4-4 after a 34-17 loss to Chicago, its first loss by more than four points since the start of last season, per the club. It is tied with the Rams for second in the NFC West, two and a half games behind San Francisco, which had the week off and is 6-1. The Rams beat the Chargers 24-9 on Sunday to go 4-4, and Arizona won 33-30 in overtime at Dallas to go 3-5, per ESPN’s results.

Our Week 8 recap has how the Bears won: 1 of 11 for Seattle on third down, a blocked field goal and a missed extra point, and Chicago touchdowns on all four of its red-zone trips. Mike Macdonald: “We’ve got a short week, this is the first of I think maybe four or five throughout the season, so it’s really important that we get our bodies back and get our minds ready to go on Wednesday.” The club had not posted anything new from Macdonald since his postgame press conference when this was written early Tuesday, so the injury comments below are from Monday night, per the club’s reports on the injuries and on the game.

Injuries

  • Leonard Williams (stinger), the defensive tackle, left late in the third quarter and did not return; he stayed on the sideline without his helmet for the rest of the game. “Leo had a stinger, and we’ll see how that shakes out,” Macdonald said.
  • Connor O’Toole (foot). Macdonald said the outside linebacker came out of the game with a foot injury.
  • Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price. Both played in their first games back, Charbonnet for the first time since tearing his ACL last January and Price after four games on injured reserve with a chest injury, and combined for 16 carries and 52 yards. “To my knowledge, the running backs came out OK,” Macdonald said. Charbonnet: “I feel pretty good.” Price: “I felt good after a 60-minute game, so we’ll just keep going from there.”
  • Did not play against Chicago: left tackle Charles Cross (ankle), receiver Rashid Shaheed (knee), running back Velus Jones Jr. (hamstring) and linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (ankle). Josh Jones started at left tackle. Macdonald did not give an update on any of them after the game.

The first practice report for both teams is due Wednesday, November 4, and goes on the injury report when it posts.

Roster moves

  • Monday: Seattle activated running back Jadarian Price from injured reserve, waived running back Robert Henry Jr. to make room, and elevated receiver Montorie Foster Jr. and tackle Bobby Hart from the practice squad for the game, per the club. Elevated players revert to the practice squad automatically after the game.
  • Tuesday: none on the club’s transactions page as of Tuesday morning, which had not yet listed any November move.

The roster was checked against the team’s official page on Tuesday morning and matches it: 53 on the active roster, six on injured reserve, 17 on the practice squad, one on practice squad injured reserve and one commissioner exempt. The official page now lists Quenton Nelson, who played left guard on Monday in his first game since the trade from Indianapolis, at No. 53.

The line

As of Tuesday morning, November 3, DraftKings has Seattle by 10.5, with a total of 43.5 and a moneyline of Seattle -625, Arizona +455 (checked at 6:45 a.m. Pacific through ESPN). VegasInsider’s consensus at the same time was Seattle -10.5 and 43.5; Bet365, DraftKings, Caesars, FanDuel and Kalshi have Seattle -10.5, and BetMGM, Hard Rock and Fanatics -11. It opened Seattle -13.5 with a total of 45.5. ESPN’s matchup predictor, a model and not a line, gives Seattle 81.9 percent. Through eight games Seattle is 2-4-2 against the number we published each game morning and 4-4 on totals; our odds page has every game, and our pick, Seattle 24-13, is in the Week 9 preview. At 10.5, that score would cover by half a point. It is here because fans ask, not as advice. Washington allows sports betting only in person at tribal casinos.

What Arizona said

On Monday Mike LaFleur named Gardner Minshew II his starting quarterback for Seattle, with rookie Carson Beck the backup and Jacoby Brissett, who started Sunday at Dallas, the emergency third quarterback, per the club. Minshew came in after one possession of the second half and went 17 of 23 for 188 yards and three touchdowns. “(Minshew) kind of showed all of us, in terms of going out there and being the competitor he is,” LaFleur said. On telling Brissett: “That’s not a fun phone call. There’s no book for that. There is a human element to it.” And: “We needed a spark and obviously Gardner gave us one.” Per the club, Brissett is a possible trade candidate before the November 10 deadline; LaFleur said he was only focused on this week.

On the injuries, per the club: running back Jeremiyah Love has a new right ankle injury, “a new portion of the ankle,” LaFleur said; Bam Knight was checked for a concussion, leaving Tyler Allgeier and Evan Hull as the healthy backs on the active roster; and of receiver Kendrick Bourne’s right ankle, “It’s not looking good,” LaFleur said. “Not saying it’s the season, but it might be.” Michael Wilson, who caught the tying touchdown with six seconds left, played through two broken ribs and will keep practicing. LaFleur, the day after: “The resilience out of the group was sweet. They just kept battling. They kept fighting.”
